Psoriasis is a long-term inflammatory condition that speeds up skin cell turnover, causing well-defined red or darker patches with silvery scale. Common sites are the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back and nails, but it can appear anywhere.

Psoriasis is not contagious. Some people also develop psoriatic arthritis, so joint pain, swelling or morning stiffness is worth mentioning at your appointment.

## How We Can Help

- Confirming the diagnosis and assessing how much it affects your skin, nails, joints and day-to-day life.
- Optimising creams, ointments and scalp treatments so they are practical to use.
- Discussing phototherapy and systemic or biologic treatments when topical treatment is not enough.
- Advice on related health factors that are linked with psoriasis.
