Milia

Tiny, firm white bumps, most often around the eyes and cheeks.

Milia are small cysts filled with keratin, a protein found in the skin. They are harmless and very common in newborn babies, in whom they usually clear on their own within weeks.

In older children and adults they can persist for months or longer, and sometimes appear after skin damage, sun damage or heavy creams.

How We Can Help

  • Confirming the diagnosis and ruling out other small bumps that can look similar.
  • Advice on skincare that may help milia clear and stop new ones forming.
  • Discussion of removal options for persistent milia, such as careful extraction, where suitable.
