Warts and verrucae
Rough, raised skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Warts are common, harmless growths caused by a viral infection of the skin. Verrucae are warts on the soles of the feet. Many clear on their own over months to a few years, especially in children.
Warts that are painful, spreading, in awkward places or persisting for a long time can be treated, and treatment usually needs some patience.
