FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

Not if you are paying for yourself. If you are using health insurance, most insurers ask for a GP referral and a pre-authorisation number before your appointment, so please check with your insurer first.

Do you see children?

Yes. Dr Tang is a consultant paediatric dermatologist. Online live consultations are available for children and adults; face-to-face appointments are currently for adults.

Which consultation should I choose?

Choose an online live consultation (£150) for a full video consultation from home, a face-to-face consultation (£250 new, £180 follow-up) if you would like an in-person examination, or a Mole Check / Rash Review (£75) to send photos of a specific skin problem for written advice.

What happens after a Mole Check or Rash Review?

A consultant dermatologist reviews your photos and answers, and replies with personalised advice within 72 hours. If a lesion needs a closer look, a biopsy or removal, we will tell you and explain your options, including referral through your GP where appropriate.

Can you prescribe treatment?

Yes. If treatment is needed, Dr Tang can issue a private prescription or write to your GP with recommendations, depending on the medicine and your preference.

Do you accept health insurance?

Yes. Dr Tang is recognised by Allianz Partners, Alliance Health Corporate, Aviva, AXA Health, Bupa, Healix Health Services, VitalityHealth, WPA. See Fees & insurance for details.

Which languages are consultations available in?

English, Mandarin and Taiwanese (and some Cantonese).

Is this service for emergencies?

No. If you are unwell, contact your GP or call NHS 111. Call 999 in an emergency, for example swelling of the lips or throat, difficulty breathing, or a rash with feeling very unwell.
